Make It Edmonton, the city’s most exciting independent fashion and art extravaganza returns for its’ 6th show at the Alberta Aviation Museum this weekend (May 13-15). Over 100 of the city’s hottest indie artisans and designers will be sharing their creativity in fashion, accessories, art, jewelry, decor and more!

Make It! is about celebrating creativity, having fun and supporting amazing Canadian talent. The vibe at the show is funky, hip and urban… very different from your traditional granny craft show. It’s the largest independent retail show of its kind in Western Canada with biannual shows in Vancouver, Edmonton and Calgary, operated by a brother/sister team, Jenna and Chandler Herbut, who as designers, are devoted to creating positive opportunities for local artists and designers.

Make It Edmonton runs this weekend (Friday, May 13 to Sunday, May 15), and tickets are $5 at the door. See you at the show!

Artists for Life

2011 Artists for Life: Edmonton is a fundraiser produced by JTMF West to benefit HIV Edmonton and will be held May 7, 2011 at the Catalyst Theatre. The event will celebrate the work of Edmonton film-maker, Trevor Anderson, whose work has screened at many international film festivals, including Sundance, Berlin, Toronto, SXSW, Outfest and AFI Fest. There will be performances between Anderson’s films by three of Edmonton’s up-and-coming musicians including Simon-Marc de Freitas, 100 Mile House, and David Shepherd. It’ll be a great night of entertainment in support of an amazing cause, so get your tickets today!

Art on the Block

Get your tickets today for the annual silent art auction Art on the Block presented by the Art Gallery of Alberta. Art on the Block plays matchmaker, setting you up with more than 70 alluring artworks, dreamy art-inspired items and unforgettable big board experiences. Little Women Ladies Nights

This May, Sundays are Ladies Nights at The Citadel Theatre! Bring your sisters, daughters, mothers and grandmothers to the classic Broadway Musical Little Women. It’s a sweeping, spirited musical filled with heart, honesty and humanity. This family event celebrates the power of the imagination and all that is beautiful about growing up. We’re excited to announce a new series of events to our lineup that includes Behind the Scenes and BoardLink Live.

artsScene Nights are casual gatherings (on the last Thursday of every month) that draws the city’s next gen crowd seeking connections, experiences, and exposure to new ideas and creativity in our community. It’s an opportunity to talk arts, culture and technology over drinks, set against the backdrop of the city’s hottest lounges, galleries and other unique venues. Best of all, they’re free.
