Sarah Jackson {Angles of Love}
Sarah Jackson is a freelance illustrator and designer who enjoys creating things that bring delight and whimsy to her life and to the lives of others. Amongst other work, she creates whimsical children’s books on the subjects of jam, tessellation and toast that can be found at the Art Gallery of Alberta gift shop. Sarah is a Professional Member of the Graphic Designers of Canada, and is also Professionally Fabulous. Sarah will be highlighting her new project “Angles of Love” at the event.
Sweetz is recognized for her seamless mixing, party rockin dance floors and addictive breakbeats. After working at Therapy for three years, she was heavily influenced by breakbeats, house and funk. With an enthusiasm for female djs, Sweetz threw her first all girl party “Steppin up”, along with her once a month club night “Femme a la Funk” and bi-monthly event “Girls gone Wild Cherry” at the Backroom Vodka Bar. Now teamed up with The Subterranean Sound crew, Sweetz has been pushing the breakbeats with no limits and bringing top talent to Edmonton. She brings grace to the decks and she’s constantly collecting funked out arsenal to blow up a dance floor near you!
Winner of the 2009 “Jazz Recording of the Year” for his sophomore CD “The Maverick”, Jerrold Dubyk is adding to the creative atmosphere of the already vi- brant Canadian jazz scene. With the prestige of performing and studying in New York, Philadelphia and major jazz festivals across the country, Jerrold is establishing his music with a vibrancy coloured by these influences. As part of the trio for ‘Behind the Scenes’ is Chris Andrew (organ) and Bill George (drums), two of Edmonton’s most authoritative jazz players.
