A few weeks ago, over 50 young professionals helped us sell out our first Behind the Scenes event of 2010 – Late Night Beethoven with the Edmonton Symphony Orchestra (check out the pics here). It was the first Friday late night concert of the year for the ESO and we thought it was the perfect fit for the artsScene crowd.
Before the 9:30 concert, we held a private event in the Founders Room for drinks and socializing. Some members of the symphony joined us, including the ESO’s new resident conductor Lucas Waldin. Then Sarah Leib and Marc Carnes from the ESO split everyone into two big groups and headed out for an exclusive behind the scenes tour of the Winspear Centre.
The tours included a visit to the Davis Concert Organ, the backstage areas, a chat with the ESO’s music director Bill Eddins, and even a quick tour underneath the Winspear stage… where no one has gone before. One of the best parts was just standing on the Winspear stage facing out into one of the finest concert halls in the world.
It was then back to the Founders Room for a few more drinks and then right back into the main hall for the concert. Everyone seemed to have a great time and enjoy the opportunity to not only check out the inner workings of the Winspear, but also to spend a Friday night out at a symphony concert with fellow young professionals.
Thanks to the team at the ESO including Marc, Sarah and Phillip, and to everyone who came out that night. And thanks again to Jason Everitt for taking great photos.
Until our next event!
