Meet Erin and Miranda, artsScene Edmonton’s new co-chairs

As the year comes to a close, we’re excited to announce that Erin Ross and Miranda Wulf will take the reigns as the new co-chairs of artsScene Edmonton in 2012.

Creative, entrepreneurial and passionate about Edmonton, we’re excited about the new direction as artsScene continues to work to inspire and engage young people in our community through arts and culture.

Erin Ross and Miranda Wulf

Working with a cast of new committee members, Erin and Miranda have been planning exciting new creative events for 2012 that will bring the community together in ways that only artsScene can. They take over from Ken Bautista and Sam Jenkins, who will step down from artsScene Edmonton to dedicate their efforts to Startup Edmonton in the new year.

We’re sure you’ll get to know Erin and Miranda and their team over the coming year, but for now here’s a little bit of background on our new leaders:

  • Erin Ross earned her Fine Arts degree from the University of Alberta in 2006, and has also studied Visual Communication Design at Medicine Hat College. She has had her work represented in commercial galleries since 2008. She has received public attention for her work, including the cover and a feature article is SEE magazine and a documentary segment on Alberta Primetime. She lives and works in Edmonton, with her studio located in the historic Great West Saddlery building on 104th street. Follow Erin on Twitter at @ross_erin.

Receiving her certification through the London Image Institute and the Image Resource Center of New York, her mission is to empower people to look and feel their best by teaching them how to develop their own personal style specific to career, goals, lifestyle, age and personality. Passionate about community, creativity and innovation, Miranda is a natural connector and loves to see people from various walks of life come together and sharpen one another to create brilliance. artsScene: Behind the Scenes at the Edmonton Symphony Orchestra

Join artsScene at the Edmonton Symphony’s Late Night Concert with Bill Eddins on Friday, June 3, 2011.

The evening will begin with a reception in the Founders Room with dessert and a cash bar.  Next we will go behind the scenes and see the inner workings of the Winspear Centre and various elements that bring together the amazing musical performances that take place there.

From there we will hear the Edmonton Symphony perform music from the 1900s. The 20th century was a time of exciting innovation, and you will hear music performed to illustrate the mood of this era. Composed at the height of World War II, Prokofiev’s Fifth Symphony glorifies the power of the human spirit with a sound that is bright and heroic. Stravinsky’s suite from the ballet Pulcinella led him into the “neo-classical” style which dominated his compositions for decades. Swiss-born Arthur Honegger was one of the darlings of the avant-garde with his work, Pacific 231, a work inspired by the power and mechanical marvel of a train engine.

Following the performance, mingle in the Winspear lobby while sipping on a cocktail and listening to live jazz music. This will be an incredible evening that you will not want to miss out on. Don’t miss out and buy your tickets today!

Date: Friday, June 3, 2011
Location: Winspear Centre, Founders Room
Time: 8:00pm
Cost: $39.00
